7-Figure Lesson: Procrastination is Indecision

by LaTisha Styles  - September 29, 2024

I find myself caught in a web of “what ifs” lately. What if I had access to all these incredible AI tools years ago? What if I had graduated college just a bit earlier, before the Great Recession hit? What if I had learned faster, implemented sooner, or simply started earlier?

These thoughts swirl in my mind as I set up an email response chatbot to draft replies. They linger as I finally dive into TikTok, despite the platform being around for years. I can’t help but dwell on all the opportunities I feel I was too late to seize.

But then, a realization hits me. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt this way. I remember having the exact same thoughts when I first started on YouTube. Back then, it seemed like I was too late to the game, as if the ship had already departed and I was left standing alone on the pier.

Here’s the truth I’ve come to understand: No matter the timing, today will always be the best day to start. Yesterday is gone, its opportunities with it. Tomorrow hasn’t arrived, its potential still uncertain. All we truly have is this present moment.

So, whether you’re considering jumping into a new platform, learning a new skill, or starting a new venture, remember: You’re not too late. The best time to start is now.

7-Figure Lesson: Procrastination is Indecision

Last night, my husband and I watched “Coherence” (add it to your list if you love cerebral sci-fi!). Without spoiling the plot, the main character’s indecision about traveling to Vietnam with her boyfriend perfectly illustrates a crucial point: procrastination is often just indecisiveness in disguise.

Why do we need more time if we know the answer? It’s either yes or no. That delay leads to procrastination, wasting precious time we could be using productively.

Take Action: Identify one task you’ve been putting off. Make a decision right now – either do it or consciously choose not to. No more “I’ll think about it later.”

Automations I’ve Created

To combat my own procrastination, I’ve created several automations that streamline tasks for my business and personal brand on weekends. These include:

  1. Drafting video content
  2. Creating social media posts
  3. Composing my weekly newsletter

This shift is crucial because I no longer have full 8-hour days to dedicate to my business. Every minute counts when balancing a full-time job with personal brand building.

Take Action: What’s one task you can automate this week to free up time for more important work?

Looking Forward: What I Focused on This Week

If you’re anything like me, staying organized across different projects can feel like a juggling act. I use ClickUp to keep everything in line. Here’s a snapshot of what I worked on this week.

  • Personal Brand: One video per day on TikTok, analyzing stats using ChatGPT.
  • You’ve Got Clients: Created a Zapier workflow to reduce newsletter creation time to 15 minutes max, set up email support automation for my inbox.

This coming week, I have zero travel scheduled. I’m excited to spend quality time at my desk, catching up on tasks I’ve been postponing.

I’ve also recommitted to my early wake-up routine, allowing me to hit the gym and get to the office earlier. This simple change has significantly boosted my productivity.

Take Action: Try adding a few hours to your day by waking up earlier. See how it impacts your productivity and energy levels.

Final Thoughts:

Remember, whether you’re building a personal brand, working full-time, or juggling both, decide and complete each to-do in your path. No more putting things off until tomorrow. Keep creating, stay organized, and don’t be afraid to share what you’ve learned along the way.

This week, I challenge you to start something you’ve been postponing. Whether it’s a new project, learning a new skill, or making a decision you’ve been avoiding, take that first step. Remember, it’s never too late to begin.

As always I appreciate your feedback. You can text me at 404-410-0779 or DM me on IG to chat.

Until next time,

Tish
