Do you ever find yourself doubting your own potential, even when you know deep down that you’re capable of more?
I spent half of this past week working and the other half in Pensacola, Florida, with my mastermind partner, Tela. Since April 2022, we’ve been meeting every Friday, but this was our first time dedicating time to an in-person work retreat—it was powerful.
Mastermind Magic: A Lesson in Personal Brand Strategy
I appreciate Tela so much because of her fresh perspective. While we share many similarities, it’s her unique approach to problem-solving and her outside-the-box thinking that challenges me to grow in ways I wouldn’t on my own. In particular, she’s very methodical and organized. I blame her engineering background.
This week, we focused on developing our personal brand strategies. While my content strategy became crystal clear, something more significant happened—I realized I’ve been underestimating my value.
7-Figure Lesson: You Are More Powerful Than You Realize
It’s a lesson I thought I’d mastered, but I needed the reminder: I’ve been dimming my light. We often shrink from our potential, fearing we’re not ready—but that’s when we need to shine brightest. When I’m in my element—creating, strategizing, or leading—I gain confidence.
The three days spent immersed in marketing reaffirmed something I’ve known all along: No matter the client or the project, I know marketing.
I simply need to continue spending time in my element to increase that confidence muscle.
Take Action: Creation breeds confidence. Want to feel more confident? Pick one project you’ve been putting off and make progress—no matter how small. Watch your confidence grow.
Bucketing Your Content
In between catching up on Selling Sunset and floating on an anchored mat in the ocean I had an epiphany.
Your personal brand is more than your business—it’s everything about you. Your likes, habits, quirks, and random thoughts all contribute. But as multi-passionate people, it can feel limiting to only post content aimed at making a sale or gaining subscribers.
But not all content serves the same purpose, which is why separating your content into White, Black, and Gray buckets helps streamline your strategy.
Eventually I’ll come up with a better name for this, but this is what I have so far. White is categorized as purely personal brand content. It’s the stuff you would have shared before you had a business. This video of me making wheat free pancakes is an example. Then you have content in the Black bucket. That’s your value based, 3 tips, blog style, niche content. But then there’s this Gray bucket. That’s where your personal brand and your business brand blend together.
Our conclusion is that Black bucket content goes on the business brand account and tags our personal account. Gray bucket content can go either on a personal or the business social media account. And White bucket content is strictly for a personal branded account. Separating the founder from the business is so much easier than you think about it this way.
Take Action: If you feel restricted because you want to post a wider range of content, consider these three buckets. Then decide which accounts or profiles you would post that on.
Looking Forward: What I Focused on This Week
If you’re anything like me, staying organized across different projects can feel like a juggling act. I use ClickUp to keep everything in line. Here’s a snapshot of what I worked on this week.
- Personal Brand: I finalized my content pillars and identified which platforms I’ll focus on for sharing my story.
- You’ve Got Clients: I connected with a partner to explore part-time agency work.
- Content Creation Streak: I’ve continued posting one short-form video daily across different platforms. Eventually, I want to streamline this to one per day for TikTok, plus three per week for LinkedIn and Instagram.
Final Thoughts:
Next week I’ll share more about what we accomplished in Florida, and also the plans we have to bring a few of you along for the same personal branding mastermind in the future.
My biggest takeaway this week? I need to stop underestimating my own value. It’s beyond time to fully step into my power. What about you? What’s holding you back from fully embracing your worth?
As always I appreciate your feedback. You can text me at 404-410-0779 or DM me on IG to chat.
Until next time,
