I missed sending the 7-Figure Weekly these past two weeks because I’ve been head down working on cleaning up old projects and preparing to put my efforts towards growing a new project.
I was working on Young Finances, which still has pending updates. I have to create a brand guide, add images to old posts, delete posts that are no good, create a lead magnet quiz, and a curated newsletter. I’ll work on those as I have time over the next few weeks.
I initially planned to put effort towards creating original content, but I realized that I no longer have the same excitement to create content for that brand like I did when I first started it.
7-Figure Lesson – Do What Interests You
The current menu includes topics I was distinctly interested in: Get Hired, Start Budgeting, Make Extra Money, Start Investing, and Start a Business.
- Get Hired – I graduated college but I couldn’t find a job so I wrote about how to write a job-getting resume, and tips to land your first job after college.
- Start a Business – I wanted to learn how to start a business, so I wrote about the 9 qualities of a successful entrepreneur.Â
- Start Investing – I wanted to start investing, so I researched and wrote about how to start investing.Â
If I had to write about those same topics right now, I would be so bored and unmotivated to actually do the work. That type of energy leads to procrastination and ultimately wasting time. I would have to pass it off to a freelance writer or Chat GPT. It would be ok, but it wouldn’t have the same energy. Every brand I’ve started came about because I was personally interested in the topic.
Are you actually interested in your topic?
Are you actually interested in your topic, or are you just doing it because you heard it can make good money? There’s no shame in choosing a business because it’s profitable. I put effort toward growing You’ve Got Clients mostly because it was actually making money.
But ultimately, I wasn’t really that interested in the topic.
I really love technology. One of my favorite side projects was Marketing Tools and Tech. I started a Facebook group that I enjoyed going into every day, because I loved the topic.
I don’t want to keep making the same mistakes, which is why I am writing these posts. It’s accountability to keep me in check.
The morning test
The days that I get the most accomplished are the days when I almost can’t sleep. When I’m that excited about a project, I don’t even feel tempted to doom scroll. I call it the morning test. If I wake up and I’m just laying in bed without a sense of excitement, then I’m not working on the right projects.
I’ll definitely create a 7-figure stream of income again. But not doing something that I don’t really enjoy. That means I’m not all that excited to develop the Creating Coins brand. I’m just not that interested in blockchain. It’s an interest, but not strong enough to make me wake up excited in the morning.
Are your projects exciting you or draining you?
